Itch.ioFirstly, I thought I sent this out much sooner, so I apologize in advance. Why my apology holds meaning will make sense in a bit.
GenCon Goodness
At any rate, Good Evening, Dungeon Masters! I've recently returned from GenCon where I met a number of channel followers, did a seminar on Geopolitical Worldbuilding, and helped work The Arcane Library vendor booth, distributing as much Shadowdark goodness across the land as possible. But how do I know it's objectively good?
Because Kelsey Dionne, Shadowdark’s author, scooped a whopping four gold ennie awards for Best Game, Best Rules, Best Layout, and Product of the Year.
I was 8 beers deep when Kelsey nabbed her fourth medal (and second trophy), and Ben Milton was clever enough to anticipate I’d do something a bit dramatic in excitement…
All the congrats to Kelsey! Afterwards we went to a bar to celebrate, and managed to wreck my knee and shoulder tripping over a damn e-scooter on the way.
I also had the pleasure of hanging out with a whole slew of YouTubers and game designers, and even saw a number of people from Green Dragon Fest rocking their shirts! It's pretty incredible to see them in the wild.

I came home and slept for two days straight. It took three days for my voice to recover.
Weird Tales Game Jam
Ever read those old pulp fantasy novelettes published by Weird Tales? Seth Skorowkowski mentioned a few weeks ago how great many of them are at being repurposed for old school D&D adventures, and after he shared a mock-up, I couldn't have agreed more.
Here is the original…
Here is Seth’s redux…
And that's where this year's Weird Tales Shadowdark Game Jam comes in!
I'm hosting a game jam (that has already started, I'm late sending this newsletter, sorry!!) inspired by Weird Tales!
Head on over to https://itch.io/jam/weird-tales-game-jam to sign up for the jam, and make an 8 page adventure or supplement inspired by three random Weird Tales covers.
The winner of the jam gets some Shadowdark zines, or a copy of the rules, as well as a $50 Amazon gift card! Sorry for being late sharing it, but there is still more than a week and a half left in the jam, so plenty of time to whip up something cool!
Anyway, keep those dice rolling and luck tokens flowing and I'll see you when my next video drops, (on either dungeon design patterns used in video games, or Waterdeep’s Geopolitics).
Good luck with the Jam for those who sign up!
