...But Where has the Baron Gone?!
An honest, and exciting, explanation!
You are right! I hear it at cons all the time, especially at my latest Green Dragon Fest TTRPG retreat event.
“Baron, I love your videos, especially your geopolitics ones! When are you uploading more content!? It’s been like 6 months!”
Even this newsletter has gone mostly silent.
For that, you have my apologies.
In retrospect, I realize now just how the OGL fiasco (was that two years ago, now?) sucked the creative juice out of my sails. I needed to take some time away and let the dust entirely settle.
But I wasn’t done with being a part of the TTRPG scene. Last year I started Green Dragon Fest, a premium retreat TTRPG event at a legally distinct “not-shire” nestled in the Smoky Mountains.

I invited some of the best game designers and dungeon tubers to run games at an amazing venue, and it was a smashing success.
The Dungeon Master lineup this year included Professor Dungeon Master, Bob World Builder, Dungeon Dad, Kelsey Dionne from the Arcane Library, and Justin Alexander just to name a few.
The quality of the guests were top notch, the games were wacky and experimental, and the sense of community was amazing.
I heard, over and over again, “I feel like I have found my people.”
Different than a convention, this small headcount retreat (only 55 tickets were available), and this really lead to a strong sense of community at the event.
I’m sure tickets will sell out super fast next year, so if you have any interest, be sure to sign up for the notification when ticket sales go live, probably sometime next month or early August. (There are a few things I need to adjust on the website before ticket sales begin)
